Podcast

Hi Everyone!

For this week, we had to focus on creating podcasts, which is something that I have never done before. I had heard of podcasts in the past, but did not think that many people paid attention to them until recently. I noticed that as we are living in such a digital age, many people are turning to podcasts to learn more about their subject of choice. As it is very easy to create your own podcast, I could see why podcasting has become so popular. I also found that I enjoyed using the tool Soundcloud to create a podcast, but can also understand how it can be very frustrating (I will speak more about this on my weekly reflection).

In regards to the link between podcasts and being a digital citizen, I definitely can see a relation. Finding people who podcast not only expands your knowledge about the topic that they are choosing to discuss, but you are being introduced to new media that is unlike Youtube videos or radio shows. Podcasts allow for perspectives all across the world to be heard by anyone, as a form of globalization and education combining. This tool is definitely something that can be used in my PLE due to the plethora of uses it has.

Podcasts also revolved around digital citizenship, not just for the listener, but for the creator as well. They must ensure that they follow the proper rules and etiquette of the internet in making sure that they talk respectfully and to upload material with facts that are properly cited, giving credit where credit is due.

Here is my very own podcast, which I will be talking about this very topic. Please excuse the sound and the nerves, as this was my first time attempting a podcast of my own.  If you are interested in trying your hand in podcasting, you should definitely check out Soundcloud.
